TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Regent M. Maesyal Rasyid announced that the fire at the Jatiwaringin landfill in Mauk District has been completely extinguished. This confirmation followed direct field monitoring and assessments conducted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Forestry.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), according to the reports and inspection results at the TPA Jatiwaringin site, the fire has indeed been put out," Maesyal said on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Maesyal noted that no further hotspots have been detected since Friday, July 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. "Following a survey of the previously burning areas, the site has been completely cleared of fire," he added.

However, emergency operations have not ground to a complete halt. In line with BNPB directives, personnel will continue cooling and drenching operations across the TPA Jatiwaringin area to prevent any potential reignition of hotspots. Maesyal stated that these cooling and watering efforts will persist until Tuesday, July 14, 2026, matching the duration of the declared state of emergency.

Maesyal expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all parties involved in battling the TPA Jatiwaringin blaze. The massive fire, which broke out on June 30, had forced hundreds of local villagers to evacuate due to the thick smoke it produced.

The regent extended special appreciation to the BNPB helicopter crew, who conducted water-bombing sorties for eight consecutive days. He also commended the Manggala Agni personnel who worked day and night.

All hotspots have officially been cleared, as confirmed by Suharyono, the Director of Resource Management and Forest Security at the Ministry of Forestry. He emphasized that the successful containment of the open-dumping site fire serves as a prime example of seamless cooperation between the central government, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

"Alhamdulillah, the hotspot situation is now clear, with no active fires remaining, meaning the blaze has been fully extinguished," he said.

Meanwhile, Riswandi from the BNPB confirmed that thermal drone surveillance showed zero remaining fire points or hotspots within the TPA Jatiwaringin zone. The current priority centers on the soaking and cooling process to keep the waste layers damp and eliminate any risk of re-ignition.

Hundreds of affected residents who had sought shelter at the Tanjakan Mekar Village Hall have now begun returning to their homes.
