TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kazakhstan, which has established diplomatic relations with Israel, confirmed its participation in the Abraham Accords on Friday. This comes a day after US President Donald Trump announced it.
The Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release that the decision was made in the country's interest, aimed at strengthening cooperation with all "interested states".
"This important decision was made solely in the interests of Kazakhstan and is fully consistent with the nature of republic’s balanced, constructive, and peaceful foreign policy," the ministry said as reported by Anadolu and quoted by Antara.
"Joining the Abraham Accords will contribute to strengthening our country’s cooperation with all interested states and, therefore, is fully in line with Kazakhstan’s strategic goals," it added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that Kazakhstan will continue to firmly advocate for a just, comprehensive, and sustainable resolution to the Middle East conflict based on international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the principle of "two states for two peoples".
The Abraham Accords are a series of agreements to normalize relations between Israel and majority-Muslim countries initiated by Trump during his first term in office.
"Kazakhstan is the first Country of my Second Term to join the Abraham Accords, the first of many. This is a major step forward in building bridges across the World," Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Trump claimed that more countries are ready to follow suit.
"We will soon announce a Signing Ceremony to make it official, and there are many more Countries trying to join this club of strength. So much more to come in uniting Countries for Stability and Growth — Real progress, real results," he said.
Trump hosted Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev alongside four other Central Asian leaders for a dinner at the White House on the same night.
So far, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco have joined the Abraham Accords.
