Live Aboard: Luxury Cruise Line Offers Permanent Residences

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - If you want to sail while visiting beautiful destinations worldwide indefinitely, a cruise ship company is offering permanent residences. The newly launched Crescent Seas, founded by former Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings leader Russell Galbut, offers floating homes on its future fleet of cruise ships.

The first ship is set to sail in 2026. These permanent residences are being offered at prices ranging from 570,000 euros to 8.8 million euros.

Residents Invited to Explore the World

The company's first ship, the latest version of the Regent Seven Seas Navigator, will contain 210 private residences and embark on a global voyage starting from December 2026. Forever cruise participants can enjoy four-day port stops in Seychelles, Singapore, Iceland, and Barcelona, and partake in culturally rich excursions on land.

Aboard the ship, Crescent Seas promises all the luxuries of life, from Michelin-inspired restaurants, a fitness center, co-working spaces supported by Starlink, cooking classes, and "6-star" services.

Residents must also purchase an annual food and beverage credit worth around 30,000 euros.

Galbut stated that real estate has always been determined by location. However, on this cruise ship, location is no longer a limitation. “Now, your home isn’t bound to a single address – it moves with you, taking you to the world's most breathtaking destinations,” he said as quoted by Euro News.

Not the First Floating Home

Crescent Seas is not the first floating home for the super-rich. The World, a residential ship similar to a condominium, has sailed worldwide since 2002. Then there is Ville Vie's Odyssey. Described as the world's first perpetual voyage, this ship offers multi-year housing packages starting from around 2 million.

Crescent Seas aims to balance privacy and full-time ownership, with the bonus of global adventures.

“Imagine travelling the world without ever leaving the comfort of your own home,” said Marisa Galbut, president of Crescent Seas.

For those with millions of dollars to spare, owning a home on a cruise ship that can navigate waves and visit exotic locations is an option.
