Looking for a Soulmate? Here Are the Telltale Signs That You've Met 'The One'

1 week ago 3

TEMPO.CO, JakartaA soulmate, or twin flame, in simple terms, is defined as someone who is very compatible with another person as a close friend or romantic partner. Soulmates share a spiritual connection with each other.

As finding a soulmate is a matter of a lifetime goal, we must not search for “the one” without a care, as misery awaits if you get with the wrong person.

So, how do we recognize that someone is our soulmate? Let's look at the following 10 signs someone is our soulmate!

1. You feel an instant connection

When you meet your soulmate, there will be a telltale spark and connection that makes you feel like it has been a lifetime knowing them—despite it being the first time you’ve laid your eyes on them.

2. You "recognize" each other's souls

And speaking of introductions, it is another spiritual sign indicating the meeting with your soulmate. According to intuitive professional Carroll Richardson, when two souls have shared significant past lives (or lifetimes) together, they will feel “immediate connection, recognition, intrigue, and excitement.”

3. Unconditional love

Unconditional love can signify a red flag in a toxic relationship and negative patterns, but not when it comes to soulmates. It is a love for each other that exists beyond time, distance, or circumstances, with a deeper level of patience and understanding for your partner.

4. Intense eye contact and physical attractions

A relationship between soulmates can manifest intensely. Almost like a telepathic connection, eye contact between you and your soulmate can feel like you are staring into the vastness of existence itself while simultaneously feeling the peace and security of a true connection.

Additionally, people sharing a spiritual connection may feel intense attraction towards each other. So, if you meet someone who can “elicit strong, challenging emotions” within you, they may be your soulmate.

5. The relationship feels empathic

Whether you experience physical or cognitive empathy, soulmates tend to be on the same wavelength. When you have a soul connection with someone, the empathy between you is much stronger than what you might experience with someone else. You may finish each other's sentences, know what the other person is thinking, or truly feel what they are feeling at any given moment.

6. You support each other

Our soulmate is our biggest supporter, so if someone in your life is always there for you, they are likely your soulmate. Richardson calls them "spiritual companions," adding that those who seem destined to be in your path often are destined for that.

7. You can overcome problems

If you think a soulmate relationship will be a breeze, think again. After all, growth and transformation are never easy, and thus, our true soulmates can actually be some of the biggest triggers in our lives.

According to couple's therapist Shelly Bullard, MFT, "To personally evolve means to grow through the things that challenge us the most. Our souls long to do this, [and] our soulmates are the people that give us the opportunity to do so by triggering our issues so we can become conscious of them and create a different reality."

8. Expect telltale signs and synchronicities

According to Richardson, we tend to attract soulmates when we really need them, or when there are lessons to be learned. "In terms of attraction, [the soul] knows one or two things. It will match you with the people who should be with you, and it does this through attraction," she explained.

9. Share the same life goals

When you meet the right soulmate, they will have similar life goals as you. But it is important to remember that even though you have the same goals, it does not mean there are no differences of opinion. You must respect each other.

10. Complement each other's shortcomings

It is important to note that nobody is perfect in this complex world. You may wait forever looking for a flawless someone, as everybody has their own shortcomings. Soulmates complement each other’s imperfections, which will make the relationship feel whole.
