TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Housing and Urban Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait stated that Meikarta will become one of the locations for subsidized apartments (rusun).
"Yes, earlier we discussed it. I have requested data from Perumnas about the locations, both from private developers and in urban areas. Meikarta is one of them," said Maruarar Sirait at the Ministry of Law complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, as quoted from Antara.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Areas will once again invite developers of subsidized apartments and related stakeholders to discuss subsidized apartments on Wednesday, January 14, 2025.
"On Wednesday evening, I will invite them to the office (Ministry of Housing and Urban Areas) at nine o'clock. We will see their readiness. We will see their readiness, but Meikarta is one of them," he said.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Areas revealed that subsidized apartment blocks in urban areas will have two concepts: owned low-cost apartments (rusunami) and rental apartments (rusunawa).
The Director General of Urban Housing at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Areas, Sri Haryati, stated that regarding these two concepts, the ministry will discuss with developers, developer associations, and related stakeholders.
One of the problems with urban housing is the high land prices, thus making it impossible to build landed houses.
Therefore, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Areas is conducting a study to understand the reason for this inability to implement, despite the rules being in place. Therefore, the ministry is looking into the affordability of housing through the Housing Liquidity Facility (FLPP).
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Areas has already devised the concept of subsidized apartments and is currently in the process. Every policy must be discussed with all stakeholders who will be involved in the minister's decision.
