TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has allocated Rp2 trillion to increase financing for the furniture industry. This funding will be channeled through the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI). "[Business owners] can come to LPEI and receive a 6 percent interest rate," Purbaya said during a press conference at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Purbaya stated that LPEI's current financing volume for this sector is only Rp200 billion. Meanwhile, furniture businesses have requested that the total financing be increased to Rp 16 trillion. This move aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the international market.
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) previously requested these incentives during a meeting with Purbaya last week. Kadin Chairperson Anindya Novyan Bakrie stated that furniture products hold a large share of global trade.
Anindya noted that the global furniture market is worth about US$300 billion, yet Indonesia’s contribution is only around US$2.5 billion. He claimed the industry is growing at a healthy pace. "However, the challenge is that the trade surplus is shrinking because more imports are entering the domestic market," he told the media after a meeting on Friday, December 19, 2025.
During the same event, Ahmad Sobur, Chairperson of the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI), asked for concrete government support. He highlighted that entrepreneurs can currently access interest rates of around 6 percent through Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI).
However, Ahmad said the current financing volume is too small. "The volume is still limited to about Rp200 billion. We hope to increase it to Rp16 trillion so the furniture industry can reach US$6 billion in exports," he explained.
