New Jurassic World: Rebirth Trailer Teases Deadlier Dinosaurs, Darker Plot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An excerpt from the second trailer of Jurassic World: Rebirth was released on Monday, May 20, 2025. The latest installment in the Jurassic World film franchise is slated for release on July 2, 2025.

The 2-minute and 37-second trailer opens with a group of scientists in hazmat suits, one of whom is caught in the grip of a dinosaur. The scene then shifts to characters Zora Bennett (played by Scarlett Johansson) and Duncan Kincaid (portrayed by Mahershala Ali) as they arrive on the island. They observe that the experimental work once carried out by amusement park staff has resulted in the survival of only the most dangerous dinosaurs.

This situation leads to a series of terrifying events, including wild animals chasing a family on a raft and hunting down the scientists. According to footage shared on the Jurassic World YouTube channel, the trailer showcases a range of key scenes, including the return of classic dinosaurs and the debut of new species.

Synopsis of 'Jurrasic World: Rebirth'

As reported by Variety, the synopsis of Jurassic World: Rebirth reveals that much of Earth has become uninhabitable for dinosaurs. The few remaining species can only survive in isolated tropical zones that mimic their original prehistoric environments.

Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a secret operations expert assigned to lead a team tasked with extracting DNA from three of the largest surviving dinosaur species. These land, sea, and air-based dinosaurs are believed to hold genetic material crucial to developing a life-saving drug for humans.

She is joined by Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) and Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), a paleontology expert. The team also includes Rupert Friend (Martin Krebs), a representative from a major pharmaceutical company, as well as characters portrayed by Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.

Their mission is derailed when they come across a civilian family stranded after their ship is attacked by a ferocious aquatic dinosaur. The group ends up marooned on a mysterious island where they uncover horrifying secrets that have remained hidden for decades.

As cited by Newsweek, the seventh film in the franchise is produced by Amblin Entertainment and directed by Gareth Edwards. The screenplay is written by David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park (1993), directed by Steven Spielberg. Jurassic World: Rebirth is set five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, which was released in 2022.
