TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said his ministry has updated the data of recipients for social assistance. According to him, the number of aid beneficiaries until the fourth decile has reached 35 million households.
The data was collected based on ground checks conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Statistics Indonesia (BPS), and social services in the regions. The total number of social assistance beneficiary households consists of regular recipients and new recipients.
"There are 16.3 million regular social assistance beneficiary households, while there are 18.7 million new beneficiary households," said Saifullah Yusuf during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Friday night, November 7, 2025.
Saifullah Yusuf, familiarly known as Gus Ipul, said all regular beneficiaries have been verified, ensuring gradual aid distribution. Regular social assistance beneficiaries also automatically receive temporary cash aid.
As for the new social assistance recipients, the beneficiaries are not yet fully verified. Gus Ipul mentioned that the number of new recipient families who have been verified is 18.7 million. "Of which, 16.8 million families are deemed eligible, while 4.2 million are deemed ineligible," he said.
Gus Ipul stated that there are still at least 1.9 million new beneficiary households currently undergoing the verification process. The Ministry of Social Affairs aims to finalize the data for the unverified social assistance recipients by the end of next week.
The ministry will finalize this latest data before distributing the aid to beneficiaries. "This is expected to be used for essential needs, the family's basic necessities. Not for buying prohibited items such as online gambling, purchasing cigarettes, or paying off debts," he added.
