Padang Floods: Infrastructure Damage Reaches Rp202.8 Billion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The government of Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, estimated the value of infrastructure damaged by the flood disaster until Saturday, November 29, 2025, reached Rp202.8 billion. "Quite a lot of infrastructure has been damaged due to this hydrometeorological disaster. Not only infrastructure, but also casualties and others," said the Mayor of Padang Fadly Amran as quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Fadly said the most severe damage and significant losses were the closure of the Gunung Nago Bridge which connects the Pauh District with the Lubuk Kilangan District. "The damage to the bridge incurred losses reaching Rp45 billion," he said. In addition, the other biggest loss was the closure of the Kalawi Limau Manis Bridge, estimated to reach Rp35 billion.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Padang, Hendri Zulviton added that there were six bridges affected by the flood. Of the six bridges, he said, four of them were broken while the other two suffered heavy damage. The infrastructure damage of all these bridges incurred losses up to Rp127 billion.

In addition, other public facilities were damaged including severely damaged dams and intakes, as well as several roads and cliffs that were also recorded as damaged due to the rain and landslides that occurred a few days earlier. "The road in Batu Busuk is completely severed," he said.

Similarly, the PDAM facilities also suffered damage, with 10 intakes severely damaged including the rupture of distribution pipes and raw water pumps submerged. Until now, they are still continuously assessing the amount of losses incurred due to the hydrometeorological disaster that hit Padang.
