TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian state-owned electricity company, PT PLN (Persero), has deployed 500 technicians from various units across Indonesia to repair the damage to the 150-kilovolt (kV) transmission towers affected by the flood and landslides in Aceh. The dispatch of electrical technicians and logistics has been ongoing since Sunday, November 30, 2025, via land and air routes with the support of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI).
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that the support from the Indonesian Air Force and Army has accelerated the process of restoring the damaged electrical network. "This collaboration is a crucial factor in expediting the transmission restoration," said Darmawan in a written statement on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Darmawan mentioned that the hundreds of technicians are currently stationed at several critical points to repair the 150 kV Arun-Bireuen SUTT towers (258 people), the 150 kV Bireuen-Peusangan SUTT (178 people), and the 150 kV P. Brandan-Langsa SUTT (64 people).
The flood and landslides in Aceh have caused road access to be severed, and several areas remain isolated. To ensure the timely arrival of materials and technical personnel, Darmawan stated that the Indonesian Air Force has assisted in airlifting using helicopters.
In addition to the air routes, PLN and the Indonesian Army operate trucks to reach areas that are still accessible by land. Emergency tower materials, technical equipment, and personnel logistics have started arriving at the affected locations.
Darmawan ensures that the recovery process is proceeding rapidly and safely. "Personnel are working nonstop to ensure that the electrical system is restored as soon as possible," he said.
Sumatra's PLN UIP3B General Manager, Amiruddin, stated that all emergency personnel and materials are already at the damaged tower area. He aims to complete the construction of emergency towers in the near future.
This recovery effort is being carried out after the main transmission network connecting several flood-affected areas suffered damage, disrupting the electricity supply at several points. "We are striving for the restoration of Aceh's power supply as quickly as possible," he said.
