“PLN continues to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system and apologizes for the inconvenience caused,” said Haris Andika, Senior Manager for Communications and General Affairs at PLN UID Jakarta Raya, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta.
He explained that most affected customers had their electricity supply restored by 12:23 PM local time, while the remaining 5 percent were reconnected by 03:05 PM
Haris noted that Jakarta’s power system is supported by 76 substations, of which 13 were impacted by the disruption.
“Customers seeking information or services can access the PLN Mobile app or contact PLN’s 123 call center,” he added.
Antara reported that the outage affected several areas across the capital on Thursday morning, including Central Jakarta districts such as Thamrin and Bendungan Hilir, South Jakarta areas like Kuningan, Jagakarsa, and Tebet, as well as parts of East Jakarta.
A similar outage had occurred earlier on April 9, when PLN attributed the disruption to system issues at several substations, causing temporary power cuts in affected areas.
In response, PLN deployed field personnel to restore services, carrying out the recovery process in stages to ensure the system returned to stable and safe conditions before reconnecting customers.
The earlier outage also disrupted operations of the Jakarta MRT, with several stations experiencing service interruptions at around 05:57 PM local time.
