
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Narcotics Detective Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have uncovered a drug distribution network in the Depok area, West Java.
A suspect identified as DP was arrested with evidence including methamphetamine wrapped in a tea package weighing 5.6 kilograms and 5,020 ecstasy pills.
Head of Subdirectorate 3 of the Narcotics Detective Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Ade Candra, stated that the narcotics were sent from Medan, North Sumatra.
"The plan was to distribute it in Jakarta and the surrounding areas," Ade said in an official statement on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The arrest was conducted by Unit 5 of Subdirectorate 3 of the Narcotics Detective Directorate on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 13.25 WIB.
The police arrested the suspect in the Gang Panus area, Pancoran Mas, Depok. Initially, officers found the suspect carrying black plastic containing two packages of methamphetamine wrapped in Chinese tea packaging. From there, the police seized more than 2.1 kilograms of methamphetamine.
During the investigation, the police visited the suspect's nearby boarding house and found more evidence. Inside the room, officers found four additional packages of methamphetamine in similar packaging. The total weight of the seized methamphetamine reached 5.6 kilograms.
In addition, a large package containing 5,020 green ecstasy pills was found.
Currently, the suspect and all evidence have been taken to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation.
