TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for New York, United States, late Friday, September 19, 2025, to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed this before the president's departure at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, East Jakarta.

Prabowo will remain in New York until September 23. His main agenda is to attend a special session on the Israel-Palestine Two-State Solution on September 22 and to attend the opening of the general session the following day. "He will speak third, after Brazil and the United States," Sugiono said on Friday.

Prior to arriving in New York, Prabowo made a stop in Osaka, Japan, to attend Expo 2025 and visit the Indonesian Pavilion. He will then continue his journey to the U.S.

This year's UN General Assembly raises the theme "Better Together, Eight Years and More for Peace, Development, and Human Rights." Sugiono referred to the forum as a moment to strengthen the spirit of multilateralism amid geopolitical tensions.

Prabowo is also scheduled for several bilateral meetings with world leaders. Sugiono said communication with the U.S. has been made, despite no meeting schedule with Trump being yet established. "We have not received the schedule," he said.

During this visit, Prabowo is accompanied by several ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani, and Foreign Minister Sugiono.

After completing his agenda in New York, Prabowo will continue his journey to Ottawa, Canada, on September 24 to witness the signing of the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). From there, he will head to the Netherlands to meet the Dutch King and the Acting Prime Minister before returning to Jakarta.
