TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said fuel distribution takes priority in areas affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra.
This statement was made by Prabowo during a visit to the disaster-stricken areas in Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, on Monday, December 1, 2025.
"Our priority right now is to deliver necessary aid swiftly, especially fuel. It is reported that fuel is crucial here. How many isolated villages are there? Insya Allah, we can reach them," said Prabowo as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
Prabowo also mentioned that the power supplies in the disaster-stricken areas will soon be restored.
During his visit, the head of state extended appreciation toward all agencies that have been working hard and swiftly to mitigate the disaster, particularly the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
Prabowo mentioned that the government has also deployed helicopters and Hercules aircraft to expedite the disaster response.
"Insya Allah, with close cooperation and good teamwork, we can promptly address this disaster and provide solutions to the difficulties faced by the people at this time," he added.
President Prabowo Subianto departed for the flood and landslide-hit areas in Sumatra on Monday morning, December 1, 2025.
Prabowo left Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta for Raja Sisingamangaraja XII Airport, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, at around 06:00 a.m. local time.
The visit is intended to ensure that disaster management efforts are running optimally after floods and landslides swept through parts of the island.
According to the official statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo is scheduled to observe the situation on the ground, including in areas suffering damage and disruptions to basic services. He will also ensure that emergency measures are implemented in accordance with rapid, precise, and coordinated disaster response standards.
The government is also preparing to undertake basic infrastructure recovery for road access, bridges, energy, telecommunications, and health services.
