Prabowo Pays Zakat at Palace Through Baznas

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has paid zakat or alms to the National Alms Agency (Baznas) at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Before giving the zakat, he made a speech at the event.

The head of state stated that zakat helps to reduce social inequality. Zakat can also create wealth equality and show social justice. "Zakat is a manifestation of social justice and wealth distribution. Hopefully, the zakat we distribute will perfect our Ramadan prayers and raise our devotion to Allah," he said.

According to him, many people still face difficulties as Eid al-Fitr 2025 approaches and struggle to survive. Giving zakat is one way to help them.

After the speech, Prabowo gave the zakat funds using a non-cash method. Inside the State Palace, zakat officers were available to help with the distribution. Tables were set up for the zakat submission process.

Prabowo sat at one of the tables, gave the zakat, and said the prayer. An officer then gave Prabowo proof and a receipt for the zakat payment.

In addition to Prabowo, several ministers, agency heads, and state-owned enterprise (SOE) directors were present and gave their zakat.

The event was attended by Baznas Chair Noor Achmad. Also present were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Tourism Widyawati Wardhana, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, Minister of Social Affairs Saifulah Yusuf, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Budi Gunawan, and Coordinating Minister for Empowerment of the State Apparatus Muhaimin Iskandar.
