TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto sees the realization of the three million house program as sluggish. Prabowo questioned Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the Head of the Housing Task Force, about the progress of this program.
Hashim revealed this during the Launching of Housing Construction to Support the 3 Million House Program held in Jakarta today. The event also marked the inauguration of vertical dwellings managed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), as part of Prabowo's 3 million house project.
Hashim stated that he had met with his older brother a few weeks ago. "I met the President, talked about this program. (He) asked, 'Why is the housing program progressing slowly? It seems slow'," said Hashim, quoting Prabowo, monitored online via a Zoom meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Hashim explained to Prabowo that bureaucratic issues in the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Area had caused obstacles. "The Ministry of Housing is a new ministry, only one year old, and so on," said Hashim.
According to Hashim, Prabowo wants the 3 million-house program to be implemented promptly. "But actually, the President wants it fast," he said.
Hashim believes that PT KAI's construction of vertical housing can speed up the realization of the 3 million house program. Furthermore, this construction is being carried out simultaneously in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya. "Frankly, I see that I can report to him, with the participation of PT KAI's officials, it will soon be realized," said Hashim.
Furthermore, Hashim aims to dispel the notion that only middle- to upper-class citizens can afford decent housing. The existence of the Housing Task Force, he said, is intended to accommodate property ownership for all segments of society, including low-income communities.
As such, Hashim claims that the fifth principle of Pancasila is not just an empty slogan. "So that the people truly feel the real benefits of the presence of Pancasila as the state ideology," he said. "Don't just be all talk and no action."
