TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia's Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has received a proposal from Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin recommending Asset Recovery Agency Chief Kuntadi as the new Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
Kuntadi was proposed to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who was removed from the position following allegations linked to a corruption investigation.
"Based on the letter, yes (Kuntadi)," Prasetyo said after attending a meeting with the House of Representatives' Commission XIII in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The letter from the Attorney General also included several other names proposed for senior positions within the Attorney General's Office. However, Prasetyo said he could not recall the full list of candidates.
He asked the public to wait as the government reviews the recommendations through the Final Assessment Team (tim penilai akhir), a mechanism required before appointments to certain state positions are finalized.
"We ask for time to process it because there is a mechanism, namely the Final Assessment Team," said Prasetyo, a politician from the Gerindra Party.
Prasetyo said the government would prioritize the evaluation process and expected a decision to be announced soon, potentially within the week.
"Once the decision has been made, we will announce it to the media and the public at the appropriate time," he said.
Several AGO Leadership Changes Proposed
A senior official at the Attorney General's Office, who was aware of the proposal, confirmed that Burhanuddin had submitted the letter to the president.
"Yes, there is a letter. I knew about it last night," the official told Tempo on Tuesday, July 14.
The official said the proposal was submitted after being sent to the president but emphasized that the names could still change depending on the results of the government's assessment.
According to a copy of the Attorney General's letter sent to the Cabinet Secretary on July 13, 2026, and obtained by Tempo, several changes to senior positions at the Attorney General's Office were proposed.
The letter proposed Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) and Acting Deputy Attorney General Asep Nana Mulyana as the definitive Deputy Attorney General.
The Attorney General also proposed Education and Training Agency Chief Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak to replace Asep as Jampidum.
To replace Leonard, Burhanuddin recommended Harli Siregar, currently Inspector III at the Deputy Attorney General's Office for Supervision.
Meanwhile, Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office Chief Patris Yusrian Jaya was proposed to replace Kuntadi as the head of the Asset Recovery Agency.
