TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto claims to have ordered all of his staff to address floods and landslides that have hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra since the first day of the disaster.
Prabowo emphasized that since the first day of the disaster, he had ordered all relevant agencies to take emergency steps, starting from evacuation, the distribution of aid, to the recovery of the affected areas.
"We have dispatched three Hercules C130 planes and one A400 plane. For the umpteenth time, we have sent aid," said Prabowo as quoted in a video from the @presidenrepublikindonesia official account on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
In the video, Prabowo also stated that the government has sent aid from the first day. "Through land and air routes, we continuously support their needs in the field," he said.
According to Prabowo, public kitchen tents and the Unit for Fulfillment of Nutritional Services (SPPG) in several areas have been functionalized to meet the food needs of citizens. SPPGs that are operating include the SPPG Daulat Lae-Langge, SPPG Cengkeh Turi Binjai Utara, and SPPG Subulussalam.
Prabowo mentioned that the central government has deployed various ground, sea, and air fleets to ensure that assistance reaches all affected areas rapidly and evenly.
In addition to the Hercules C-130 and A400 transport planes, the emergency aid sent includes rubber boats for evacuation, shelter tents, generator sets as an emergency power source, and communication devices in the field.
Prabowo also expressed deep condolences to all the victims and families affected by the disaster in Sumatra. "Let us always stand united, cooperate, pray, and help our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster. Hopefully, we can soon get through this difficult time," he said.
The central government also sent 11 helicopters from Jakarta to expedite the handling of the flood and landslide disasters that occurred in the provinces of Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya reported that the 11 helicopters were deployed from Jakarta to the affected areas. "To date, the government has sent a total of 11 TNI and Basarnas helicopters from Jakarta to the locations of the disaster," Teddy wrote in his statement on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Teddy stated that 9 helicopters had been on-site since November 26, 2025. The helicopters are simultaneously conducting the distribution of aid and monitoring the impact of the disaster.
"Nine helicopters have been on-site since November 26, 2025, and two additional helicopters flew to Aceh from Jakarta this morning," said Teddy.
Teddy said that all the helicopters are focused on continuously distributing logistics, especially to the deepest areas and areas where land access is cut off. He emphasized that all aerial operations are carried out prioritizing safety factors and weather conditions as the main considerations.
