TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gravity Co Ltd, the South Korean game publisher, has finally introduced Ragnarok Online 3, a sequel to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that was very popular in Asia since the early 2000s. This sequel was developed in collaboration with JoyMaker, the studio behind Ragnarok Origin. Although there is no certainty about the release date, Ragnarok Online 3 is confirmed to be a free-to-play game.
Referring to GamerBraves on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the first trailer of Ragnarok Online 3 invites gamers to nostalgically explore Midgard, including iconic cities like Prontera and Geffen. The universe, which has been well-known for two decades, especially to internet cafe (warnet) gamers, will be presented with a combination of pixel-art style and modern 3D visuals.
The 3-minute promotional video also showcases open-world exploration, job class-based battles, dungeons or areas for 10 players, and large-scale guild battles. Classic roles such as Lord Knight, High Wizard, Crusader, and Hunter will also make a comeback in this sequel, complete with new skill systems.
The game still maintains the legacy of the 2002 version of Ragnarok Online, but is now wrapped in a seasonal world MMORPG format. This means there will be new content and special events that are only available during certain seasons. This format makes the game fresher and continuously evolving.
Its visual style remains faithful to the old feeling, but now with more detail. The latest environment and character designs of Ragnarok Online are made to remain familiar, but with more impressive graphics. Core social systems such as guilds, Most Valuable Player (MVP) hunts- powerful bosses in the game- and player-based economy remain a major part, ensuring that player interactions remain the main attraction.
First Testing in Several Countries
Simultaneously with the release of the trailer, Gravity also opened registration for a limited beta testing phase called Pioneer Test. This testing is open to players in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Korea.
Those interested can fill out a survey form shared through the official Facebook and Discord (communication platform) accounts of Ragnarok Online 3. Gravity also confirmed that there will be further testing for those who missed the initial test.
In the future, the development team of Ragnarok Online 3 will still release various additional details such as installation guides, gameplay FAQs, and in-game event leaks. After the screening of the trailer, fans can look forward to more new information about this Ragnarok sequel.
