TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of Public Relations Division of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Jaya Budhi Hermanto, stated that the police have not found any indication of a connection between the explosion at SMAN 72 school at Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Indonesia, and the bomb threat received by the North Jakarta Intercultural School (NJIS) in North Jakarta. Prior to the incident, two schools in Tangerang also received bomb threats.
"So far, no connection has been found, but it will certainly be investigated by the Densus, the competent authorities, regarding their respective main duties," he said at the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Previously, several schools received bomb threats, one of which was the North Jakarta Intercultural School (NJIS). The marketing number of NJIS received a message from the number +2349165620857, stating, 'Message to everyone, we have a bomb in your school. The bomb will explode in 45 minutes. If you disagree, pay US$30,000 to our Bitcoin address below: 17TbltoK4kojSn4sSogJuZgRzvTx1Qi4XT.' The message was sent on October 7, 2025.
Following the bomb threat at NJIS, there were similar terror threats against two international schools in South Tangerang on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. These were the Jakarta Nanyang School in Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency, and the Sekolah Mentari Intercultural School in Bintaro. Both schools in Tangerang also received bomb threat messages. However, police searches did not find any indication of the existence of the bombs.
