TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Management Agency Danantara Indonesia stated that several State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) have responded to the natural disaster that occurred in Sumatra. Rohan Hafas, the Managing Director of Stakeholders Management at Danantara, mentioned that companies involved in telecommunications, electricity, and fuel have assisted.

"Those are the three main necessities needed there to restore communication, electricity, and fuel for transportation," said Rohan Hafas when met at Danantara House on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Danantara confirmed that in West Sumatra, several SOEs, including Pegadaian, Semen Padang, BNI, Hutama Karya, Angkasa Pura, PLN, and Pertamina, have mobilized humanitarian aid since the early stages. Then in North Sumatra, aid distribution is carried out through Pegadaian, BRI, BNI, Inalum, Angkasa Pura, BTN, KIM, Pertamina, and PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN).

As is known, dozens of districts and cities suffered damage to infrastructure due to floods and landslides. The natural disaster following heavy rains caused many injuries and over a hundred deaths in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Rohan Hafas stated that the distributed aid includes food, drinks, basic medicines, clothing, baby diapers, kitchen equipment, and emergency tents used to support refugees. In addition, rubber boats and excavators were also deployed to help with evacuations and reopen access blocked by floods or landslides.

"We've been acting since the beginning to ensure that basic needs are met, critical access is restored, and recovery can be done without much delay," he added.

The emergency response to this disaster is expected to facilitate the rapid recovery of the affected areas. Through its network of state-owned enterprises, Danantara aims to ensure that daily life can return to normal.

Despite significant material and immaterial losses, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that the disasters in the three provinces remain classified as provincial-level disasters. The current condition, he claimed, has improved.

"The national disaster status previously established by Indonesia includes Covid-19 and the 2004 Aceh Tsunami," said Head of BNPB Lieutenant General Suharyanto in a press conference broadcast on the official BNPB YouTube channel on Friday, November 28, 2025.

He stated that national disaster status is determined on various considerations, including the scale of casualties. Meanwhile, the current disaster situation in Sumatra, according to him, has not reached the threshold for the national disaster status declaration. As of Friday afternoon, BNPB recorded 174 deaths and 12,546 households displaced by this disaster.
