TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Spanish national team secured a place in the final of the 2026 World Cup after defeating France 2-0 in the semi-final match at Dallas Stadium, Dallas, United States, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026. La Roja took the lead through a penalty scored by Mikel Oyarzabal in the 22nd minute before Pedro Porro doubled the advantage in the second half. This victory takes Spain to the final and they will await the winner of the other semi-final match between Argentina and England.
France tried to take the initiative in the early stages of the match. However, they suffered a blow when William Saliba had to be substituted due to an injury in the 30th minute. The Arsenal defender was replaced by Maxence Lacroix.
Spain opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Referee Ivan Barton pointed to the spot after Lucas Digne committed a foul in the penalty box. Mikel Oyarzabal successfully deceived goalkeeper Mike Maignan to give Spain a 1-0 lead.
After taking the lead, Spain appeared more composed in controlling the game. Fabian Ruiz had a chance in the 38th minute, but his shot was blocked by the French defense. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Entering the second half, Didier Deschamps made several substitutions to bolster his team's attacking play. Manu Kone, Desire Doue, Theo Hernandez, and Rayan Cherki came on to provide a new spark.

Spain actually added another goal in the 61st minute through Lamine Yamal. However, the goal was disallowed by the referee as the 18-year-old player was in an offside position.
France continued to press for the remainder of the game. However, their efforts were thwarted. Kylian Mbappe had several opportunities, including a long-range shot that was blocked in the 67th minute and a golden chance in injury time. Ousmane Dembele also had a shot from inside the penalty box in the 90+6th minute, but goalkeeper Unai Simon made a brilliant save.
As the final whistle blew, no additional goals were scored. Spain concluded the match with a 2-0 victory, securing their place in the final of the 2026 World Cup.
