TEMPO.COJakarta - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) responded to a raid conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday, January 13, 2025. Previously, the KPK named three officials from the North Jakarta Tax Office (KPP Madya) as suspects in a bribery case involving tax collection reductions.

Director of Education, Services, and Public Relations Rosmauli stated that the DJP respects and supports KPK law enforcement efforts. The DJP remains ready to facilitate investigators according to applicable procedures.

"In relation to the search activities by KPK investigators at the DJP, we are cooperative and ready to provide full support as required by the provisions," Rosmauli said in an official statement on Tuesday.

However, the Directorate General of Taxes declined to explain the case substance or technical details. "For case details and further explanations, we leave it entirely to the KPK," she said.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the examination at the Directorate General of Taxes headquarters regarding the ongoing bribery investigation. "The search is certainly to find additional evidence needed in this investigation," Budi said.

Prior to this, the KPK conducted an arrest operation involving eight individuals, including the head of the North Jakarta Tax Office, on Friday and Saturday. On January 11, 2026, the KPK named five persons as suspects.

The suspects include three DJP officials: Head of the North Jakarta Tax Office Dwi Budi (DWB), Head of Supervision and Consultation Section Agus Syaifudin (AGS), and Valuation Team member Askob Bahtiar (ASB). Additionally, the KPK named tax consultant Abdul Kadim Sahbudin (ABD) and PT Wanatiara Persada staff Edy Yulianto (EY).

KPK Acting Deputy for Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu explained that the case began when PT Wanatiara Persada reported land and building tax (PBB) obligations for 2023. The North Jakarta Tax Office identified potential underpaid tax of approximately Rp75 billion.

AGS suggested that PT Wanatiara Persada pay an "all-in" tax of Rp23 billion. This amount included Rp15 billion in tax underpayment and Rp8 billion as a fee for tax officials.

PT Wanatiara Persada negotiated to reduce the gratuity from Rp8 billion to Rp4 billion. Following this agreement in December 2025, a notification was issued stating a tax deficit of only Rp15.7 billion. The Rp4 billion bribe was distributed among several parties within the Directorate General of Taxes. The KPK made the arrests during the distribution of this money.
