TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousands of people from hundreds of households have been affected by the flash floods and strong winds that swept over 13 villages in five districts of Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Monday, November 10, 2025. Although the flood has mostly receded today, the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is still collecting data and assessing the impact of the disaster.
Nurul Huda, the Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Bima BPBD, attributes the flash floods to torrential downpour that lashed the hilly areas. Nurul mentioned that small rivers leading to residential areas overflowed, affecting 2,347 people as hundreds of houses were submerged and several infrastructures were damaged.
Among the five districts affected by the flash floods, Sanggar District was the most severely impacted. "The flood submerged four villages in Sanggar District, with water levels ranging from 20 to 80 centimeters," he said when contacted by phone in Bima on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Meanwhile, in Wera District, a 200-meter cut bank collapsed, unable to withstand the force of water from the flash floods.
Additionally, floods also occurred in three villages in Bolo District and two villages in Soromandi District.
At the same time, strong winds lashed two villages in Wawo District, namely Pesa and Maria. Fifteen houses suffered damage, mostly to the roofs. "Electric poles and trees fell on houses in Pesa Village, but there were no casualties in the incident," said Nurul.
The Bima BPBD confirmed there were no casualties in the disaster, but emergency response aid, logistics and equipment, as well as urgent infrastructure repairs and mud clearing are deemed necessary. "Our team continues to coordinate with district heads, village officials, the military and police personnel, as well as relevant agencies to expedite the handling," said Nurul.
In addition, Nurul Huda reminded residents to promptly report any increase in water discharge or infrastructure damage due to extreme weather. "Beware of sudden weather changes and water flow from the hills. Extreme weather is still possible in the coming days," he said.
Based on the latest Weekly Weather Outlook from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), NTB is among the regions on alert for heavy to extremely heavy rain from November 11 to 13, 2025. BMKG data also recorded that the same region received heavy rainfall of 128 mm last Saturday, November 8, 2025.
