TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three major meteor showers are among the astronomical phenomena that can be witnessed in the night sky throughout November 2025.
Avivah Yamani, an astronomy communicator and a member of the Langit Selatan Community in Bandung, stated that the Leonid meteor shower will be visible from November 3 to December 2. Its peak will occur on November 17–18.
"There will be ten meteors streaking per hour in the east, when the Leo constellation will only become visible at 00:20 a.m. WIB," she told Tempo on Tuesday, November 5, 2025.
According to the official website of the Langit Selatan community, the Northern Taurid meteor shower is also expected in the eastern sky, originating from the Taurus constellation, from October 13 until December 2. The peak of the Northern Taurids will be on November 12. Approximately five meteors are predicted to streak every hour, potentially accompanied by fireballs, from sunset until sunrise.
Another meteor shower is the Alpha-Monocerotid on November 15–25, also visible in the east. During its peak on November 21, 2025, at least five meteors are predicted to streak every hour, from 9:33 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) until dawn.
"Meanwhile, in the western sky, observers can hunt for the C/2025 A6 or Lemmon comet after sunset throughout November," Avivah added.
The Langit Selatan Community Bandung also reported on the phenomenon of the Full Moon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, and that on the following Thursday, the Moon will reach perigee or its closest distance to Earth at 356,833 kilometers away.
On November 10, the Moon will appear close to Jupiter in the east at 10:00 p.m. WIB. On November 29, the Moon will appear close to Saturn in the southeast, visible after sunset until midnight.
There is also a forecast about the planetary conjunctions in the Solar System this month. Mercury and Mars will appear after sunset. Venus, meanwhile, will appear low in the eastern sky towards sunrise. The Moon will also appear to pass by Venus towards the end of November.
The giant planet Jupiter can be observed towards midnight until dawn in the Gemini constellation. Next week, Jupiter will also appear to pass close to the Moon. Saturn, famous for its rings, can be glimpsed after sunset until late at night in the Aquarius constellation. Saturn will experience conjunctions with the Moon at the beginning and end of November.
