PT Bank HSBC Indonesia announced the appointment of Stuart Rogers as the new President Director of HSBC Indonesia on Thursday, October 6, 2025. Previously, Stuart served as the Regional Head of International Markets for HSBC Commercial Banking based in Singapore.
Stuart effectively replaced Francois de Maricourt on November 2, 2025. As the new President Director, Stuart will oversee approximately 2,300 HSBC employees throughout Indonesia, where the company has a presence in 12 cities.
The President Commissioner of HSBC Indonesia, Martin Haythorne, congratulated Stuart on his appointment. "I hope to work closely with him for the next stage of growth and development of the bank, becoming the preferred international bank in Indonesia," he said in an official statement on Thursday, October 6, 2025.
2. Prabowo Administration Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Human Development in Papua
Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago, visited Papua with the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. They directly observed activities at the Papua Youth Creative Hub.
The location is described as a center for youth creativity development in the easternmost region of Indonesia. The Papua Youth Creative Hub was built and managed by the State Intelligence Agency.
Djamari said that the Papua Youth Creative Hub is an example of the government's commitment to providing a creative space for Papua's youth. He says this aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's mission.
3. OJK Records Rp3,050tn of Islamic Finance Assets by August 2025
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) records over Rp3,050 trillion in assets for the Islamic financial industry as of August 2025, an 11.3 percent hike compared to the same period last year. This was confirmed by Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Executive Head of the Supervision of Financial Business Behavior, Education, and Consumer Protection at OJK.
"Of course, this is supported by the stable performance of our financial sector, including banking, capital markets, insurance, financing, and everything else," she said while addressing the Financial Expo and Sharia Seminar (EKSiS) at Balai Sarbini, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Friderica detailed that the total assets of the Islamic financial industry were supported by Rp975.9 trillion from banking, Rp1,896.2 trillion from the capital market, and Rp178.7 trillion from the non-banking financial industry.
