With just a few days left until the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the city transforms into a vibrant hub of gratitude, generosity, and unity, bringing families and communities closer.

Eid al-Fitr in Dubai embraces the spirit of giving, as locals and tourists participate in gift exchanges, lavish feasts, and acts of kindness. With valuable insights from Time Out, the National News, and Visit Dubai, let’s explore this joyful event.

When Is Eid al-Fitr Holiday in UAE?

Holidays in a thriving travel destination like the UAE never fail to capture attention, drawing both locals and global travelers. Public holidays, in particular, bring the nation to life, offering dazzling celebrations and vibrant festivities.

In the UAE, throughout the year, there are about 14 official public holidays, including Eid al-Fitr. Much like other religious celebrations, the exact date of Eid al-Fitr depends on certain variables. It relies heavily on the sighting of a new crescent moon at the end of the Islamic Hijri calendar.

In the Islamic Hijri calendar, months typically span either 29 or 30 days. Since Ramadan begins on March 1 this year, the arrival of the next lunar month is expected to fall around March 30 or 31, marking the transition from Ramadan to Shawwal.

The UAE government has officially announced the Eid al-Fitr holiday schedule for Dubai and other regions, granting a minimum of three days of public leave. As reported by Time Out, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed that public sector employees will enjoy a break from March 30 to April 1, with an extra day off on April 2.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has ensured that private sector workers will also receive the same holiday benefits, allowing the entire nation to celebrate the festive occasion together.
