TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spanish national team striker Ferran Torres has officially joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Barcelona in the summer of 2026.
"Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has secured the services of Ferran Torres. The Spanish World Cup-winning forward has signed with the Club until 2031," the French club said in a statement on its official website on Saturday.
At his new club, Ferran will wear the number 9 shirt previously worn by Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos.
Several reports, including those from Fabrizio Romano, indicate that Les Parisiens paid a transfer fee of 50 million euros (approximately Rp102 trillion) to bring the 26-year-old from Barcelona.
"I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain. I’d like to thank President Nasser al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos [PSG’s football adviser] and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible," said Torres.
Torres began his football career playing futsal before joining the Valencia CF academy at the age of seven.
During three seasons with Valencia's first team from 2017 to 2020, Torres made 97 appearances.
He also became the youngest player in the club's history to reach 50 league appearances at the age of 19 years and 324 days.
Torres then moved to Manchester City in 2020. With the English club, he made 43 appearances, scoring 16 goals and four assists. He helped Manchester City win the Premier League and League Cup in 2021.
In January 2022, Torres joined Barcelona. During his time with the Blaugrana, he made 207 appearances and scored 65 goals. He helped Barcelona win three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.
At the international level, Torres has been a vital part of Spain's success. He won the 2017 UEFA U-17 Championship and the 2019 UEFA U-19 Championship before breaking into the senior team.
Luis Enrique, then the Spanish national team coach, gave Torres his senior debut in a UEFA Nations League match against Germany in 2020.
Since then, he has earned 65 caps for La Roja. Torres then helped Spain win the 2023 UEFA Nations League and the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany.
The pinnacle of his career came in the summer of 2026 when he led Spain to victory in the World Cup in North America.
In the final against Argentina, Torres scored the only goal of the match in extra time. The goal sealed Spain's 1-0 victory and earned La Roja a second star on their crest.
Torres was also named Man of the Match. Now, Torres will reunite with Luis Enrique at PSG. He is expected to be a key player in the Parisian club's attack as they seek to win more titles.
