TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has collected five medals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, comprising one silver and four bronze medals, after competitions across wushu, teqball, soft tennis and karate.
The Asian Games officially opened at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with an opening ceremony themed “Harmonic Heart Beat,” according to Detik.com report. The ceremony featured artistic performances and appearances by Japanese celebrities.
Several sports, however, had begun before the opening ceremony. The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will run through October 4.
Seraf Naro Siregar Opens Indonesia’s Medal Account
Indonesia’s first medal came from wushu athlete Seraf Naro Siregar, who won bronze in the men’s changquan event.
Seraf competed at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall on Sunday, September 20. He finished third with a score of 9.720.
Macau’s Kuong Chi Hin won gold with 9.723, while his compatriot Song Chi Kuan took silver with the same score as Seraf.
Seraf’s bronze marked Indonesia’s first medal at the 2026 Asian Games. It was also his second Asian Games medal after he previously won bronze in the daoshu+gunshu event.
His latest achievement came in a closely contested competition, with only 0.003 points separating him from the gold medalist.
Sumaya Wins Silver as Teqball Makes Asian Games Debut
Indonesia added its first silver medal through Sumaya in the women’s singles teqball event.
Sumaya lost to Myanmar’s Wai Khin Hnin in the final at the Higashi Sports Center in Nagoya on Sunday afternoon. She was defeated 12-10, 8-12, 9-12.
The silver marked Indonesia’s highest medal finish at the 2026 Asian Games at that point and came as teqball made its Asian Games debut in Aichi-Nagoya.
Indonesia also earned a bronze medal in teqball through Yoga Ardika Putra.
Yoga secured third place after his opponent, Kuwait’s Zaid Eidan, withdrew from their bronze-medal match.
The two results gave Indonesia two medals in teqball at its first appearance at the Asian Games.
Men’s Soft Tennis Team Secures Bronze
Indonesia’s men’s soft tennis team also secured a bronze medal after reaching the semifinals.
The Indonesian team lost 0-2 to hosts Japan at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya on Sunday morning, ending its hopes of reaching the final.
In the first match, Tio Hutauruk and Fernando Sanger faced Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka and Takafumi Uchimoto. The Indonesian pair struggled to keep pace with their Japanese opponents and won only the fourth game out of six.
Japan then secured the overall victory in the second match, with Bagus Pradewa losing to Toshiki Uematsu in the singles event. Uematsu won all four games.
The semifinal defeat nevertheless secured Indonesia a bronze medal in the men’s team event.
Leica Al Humaira Lubis Adds Karate Bronze
Indonesia’s fifth medal came from karate athlete Leica Al Humaira Lubis in the women’s +68-kilogram kumite event.
Leica defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Begimai Orozalieva 6-1 in the bronze-medal match at Toyohashi Gymnasium in Aichi on Sunday.
The Indonesian karateka had narrowly missed out on the final after losing 3-4 to Thailand’s Maneevan Butsuwan in the semifinals.
She bounced back in the bronze-medal bout to secure a podium finish on her Asian Games debut.
Indonesia’s Medal Tally
Leica’s bronze brought Indonesia’s total medal haul at the 2026 Asian Games to five: one silver and four bronze medals.
The silver belongs to Sumaya in women’s singles teqball, while the bronze medals were won by Seraf Naro Siregar in wushu, Yoga Ardika Putra in teqball, Indonesia’s men’s soft tennis team, and Leica Al Humaira Lubis in karate.
