TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov said that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will hold another bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of his visit to Russia this week.
"Of course, the bilateral meeting is expected to take place, but the exact date will be determined by the Russian presidency," Ambassador Tolchenov said after the Moscow City Tourism Committee (Mostourism) roadshow press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He confirmed that President Prabowo's visit to Russia, scheduled for September 3, is to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) to be held in Vladivostok, Far Eastern Russia, from September 1-4, 2026.
Prabowo and Putin will be keynote speakers at the economic forum, he added.
Ambassador Tolchenov said the planned bilateral meeting reflects the strong friendship between Indonesia and Russia, to the point where the leaders of the two countries seem to be meeting regularly.
"If I'm not mistaken, this will be their fifth meeting in the last two years," he said.
The Russian Ambassador also hoped that during the upcoming bilateral meeting, President Prabowo and President Putin could discuss efforts to translate the agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors into concrete actions that benefit both parties.
Furthermore, Tolchenov stated that his office had received confirmation of the participation of various stakeholders from Indonesia in the 2026 Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
One of these stakeholders is a representative from Aceh Province, who will speak at a session on regional development in Asia-Pacific countries, he said.
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will also reportedly send a large delegation to the 2026 EFF. "I hope they can participate in meetings and discussions at the business level," he said.
Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yury Ushakov revealed information about President Prabowo's attendance at the 2026 EFF in Vladivostok on August 28.
He also confirmed that President Putin is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo on the sidelines of the economic forum on September 3.
Ushakov added that the EEF plenary session will also be attended by Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, Myanmar Vice President Nyo Saw, and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
