TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Losing belly fat can be one of the most difficult parts of losing weight. However, the process can sometimes be made easier by what you do first thing in the morning. Small morning habits can support your body's systems, regulate your hormones, and boost your metabolism throughout the day.
According to the Hindustan Times, Indian weight loss coach Akanni Salako shares five things women can do after waking up to lose belly fat.
5 Good Morning Habits
Here are five good morning habits for fat loss.
1. Drink water with psyllium husks
A healthy gut is essential for boosting your metabolism throughout the day. To restore gut health, drink 230 ml of water mixed with psyllium husks and apple cider vinegar. "This helps reduce bloating and support digestion before food hits your system," she says. A healthy gut is crucial for kick-starting your metabolism throughout the day.
2. A healthy breakfast
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. Eat foods that fill you up, suppress your appetite, and regulate your blood sugar to avoid spikes. Recommended breakfast foods include eggs, avocado, and berries. "This keeps you full longer and then supports the hormones that regulate your appetite and your blood sugar," says Akanni.
3. Avoid foods that raise insulin levels
This weight loss coach warns against consuming foods that spike insulin levels, such as classic breakfast foods like cereal, toast, and sugary lattes.
4. Don't drink coffee right away
Akanni recommends waiting to drink your morning coffee. He suggests drinking water first, followed by a protein-rich beverage, and then coffee. "This balances your cortisol levels so we don't have stress spikes right away," he said.
5. Walk
Akanni recommends walking for at least 10 minutes to get some sunlight. He says it's good for your body's biological clock. "This boosts your mood, increases your metabolism and helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which is what is going to help you sleep better at night."
