TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts rainfall in parts of Greater Jakarta on Thursday, May 1, 2025, coinciding with the national holiday of Labor Day, or May Day. Here is the BMKG's weather forecast for Greater Jakarta today.
Rain is expected to fall in all of Jakarta, including the Thousand Islands, today, but the intensity will be light and likely to occur after midday. The highest air temperature here will be 33 degrees Celsius, specifically in South Jakarta and East Jakarta.
In other parts of Greater Jakarta, today's weather will be partly cloudy. BMKG forecasts clear skies for Bogor Regency and City, Tangerang Regency and City, and Depok City. The rest will be cloudy, including Bekasi Regency and City as well as South Tangerang City.
BMKG stated that Indonesia as a whole is currently influenced by a transitional season pattern, characterized by a significant shift in temperature from morning to afternoon, due to solar radiation intensity, which will lead to the potential growth of local rainfall in the afternoon to evening.
Jakarta and its surrounding regions, and even the entire island of Java, are spared from potential downpours from April 29 to May 2. But BMKG shared that several regions such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua, may expects heavy rainfall during the period.
