TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Chinese national was discovered dead, hanging from a tree branch in C1 Park at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Authorities suspect it to be a suicide.
"Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police found the victim hanging by a blue rope from the tree," stated Deputy Chief Commissioner Joko Sulistiono on Thursday.
Joko confirmed that the deceased, identified as HS, was a 48-year-old Chinese male, employed as a technician at a foreign company in Tangerang.
Based on witness statements, according to Joko, HS was supposed to fly back to his home country using a Garuda Indonesia flight on Wednesday, April 23, at 11:50 PM.
However, his family, who was waiting for him at Shanghai airport, did not find him.
"The family contacted the relevant office's officials," said Joko.
Subsequently, the company where HS worked reported the matter to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Terminal 3 Police Post and Avsec officers. Upon receiving the report, the officers patrolled and found HS hanging lifeless.
After being identified by the Inafis Team of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, the victim's body was then taken to Kramat Jati Hospital East Jakarta for further examination.
