Comparison of Prabowo and Jokowi's Eid Open House at the Presidential Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto served traditional Eid al-Fitr dishes in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday, March 31, 2025. The meal was specially prepared for the public during the open house event on Eid al-Fitr 2025.

According to Tempo's observations in the Presidential Palace complex, the public entered the grounds from 10:00 AM. Guests were not immediately able to meet Prabowo. They were asked to wait in a blue tent located in the palace complex.

Inside the tent, various foods were arranged on the table. Plates were placed in multiple locations. Various dishes were served on the table, including chicken opor, pumpkin soup, chicken liver, and vegetable rice cake. There were also tappenyaki and a Solo meatball. In addition to food, various types of drinks were available, such as es teler, tea, and coffee.

Fitri Simanjuntak from Pulogebang, East Jakarta, stated that this food presentation differed from the open house during the presidency of the seventh president, Joko Widodo, or Jokowi. According to Fitri, Jokowi did not provide food when welcoming the public.

Last year, for example, Jokowi gave out boxes of cakes to take home. "The food was also delicious," she said in the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday, March 31, 2025. Fitri also attended the open house when Jokowi was still president.

Ida Nurlaila has tried the food prepared by the palace. "Delicious. I'm full," said Ida.

Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media of the President's Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, stated that the open house event invited the public. Before the open house, Prabowo Subianto performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer for 1446 Hijriah at the Istiqlal Mosque.
