Danantara CEO Speaks Out on Rp130 Trillion US Investment Reports

1 month ago 34

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, stated that Danantara's primary focus remains on investing in the country, despite rumors of a plan to invest $130 billion in the United States.

The investment plan of $130 trillion in the U.S. is mentioned as a requirement in the negotiation of import tariffs between President Prabowo Subianto and U.S. President Donald Trump.

"We evaluate all investments. Our focus is on Indonesia first," Rosan said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on July 22, 2025.

Rosan stated that Danantara prepares 80 percent of its investments in Indonesia and 20 percent abroad. However, 20 percent of the investment fund is not only for the U.S., but also for other countries.

"What is important for us is how, with our investment, there is technology transfer," said Rosan.

In addition to technology transfer, Danantara's investment must create jobs and returns following the Sovereign Capital benchmark. "So, we consider everything," he said.

Prabowo and Donald Trump agreed to reduce import tariffs for Indonesian products to the U.S. from 32 percent to 19 percent. Conversely, the entrance fee for American products to Indonesia is 0 percent.

This agreement was reached after Prabowo negotiated with Trump. In return, Indonesia agreed to purchase energy from the U.S. worth $15 billion, agricultural products worth $4.5 billion, and 50 Boeing aircraft, most of which are Boeing 777.
