TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A short video claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump stopped his speech after hearing the takbir chant circulated on Instagram [archive] on February 17, 2026.
The 11-second recording shows the atmosphere at Trump's speech changing suddenly when someone shouts "Allahu Akbar." Trump appears flustered and is immediately surrounded by four black-suited bodyguards at the podium.

The clip received 148,500 likes and 5,500 comments. But did Trump's speech actually end when he heard someone shout "Allahu Akbar"?
FACT CHECK
Tempo used a reverse image search tool and searched various credible news sources to verify the claim. The results showed that the audio in the video had been modified, rendering it inconsistent with the original incident.
A Google reverse image search reveals that the incident took place on March 12, 2016, in Dayton, Ohio. At the time, Donald Trump was campaigning as the Republican presidential candidate for the United States in an airplane hangar.

At the end of his speech, Donald Trump appeared to flinch after hearing a voice from the audience behind him. A group of bodyguards immediately rushed onto the stage and formed a protective circle around him.
According to a PBS News report, Donald Trump campaign member Hope Hicks said a man breached the security zone. Security officers apprehended the man quickly, before Trump could continue his speech.
Local authorities identified the intruder as Thomas Dimassimo. They charged him with public order violations and imposed a $250 fine and one year of probation.
Donald Trump, via X account on March 13, 2016, stated that the intruder was a member of the ISIS group. In an interview with CNN, Thomas Dimassimo denied the accusation and called Donald Trump a bully.
Tempo compared the circulating video with the original recordings from NBC News, CNN, and ABC News. Unlike the circulating content claimed, the original recordings did not include the sound of the crowd shouting takbir.
CONCLUSION
Tempo's investigation found that the claim that U.S. President Donald Trump's speech was interrupted by someone shouting "Allahu Akbar" is false.
