TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) is deploying 1,147 personnel to secure the series of events commemorating the 81st Indonesian Independence Day. Paspampres will also bring out their weapons system.
Paspampres Commander Major General Edwin Adrian Sumantha said his unit is responsible for protecting the president and VVIPs during the Independence Day events.
"For Paspampres, success is not only achieved by neutralizing threats, but also by preventing those threats from ever having the opportunity to emerge. That is the true essence of VVIP security," Edwin said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Paspampres will utilize a variety of state-of-the-art defense equipment to secure the Independence Day events. These include Caracal and Dasan rifles, SS1 V3 Crom, MP 7, various pistols (G2 Combat, HK, Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43X, and Sig Sauer), and Pindad SPR 3 sniper rifles and AW sniper rifles.
Additionally, one anti-drone vehicle and one Maung Air Defense Artillery vehicle are prepared.
The Paspampres are also readying to deploy their tactical vehicles, including CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive), jammer, G500 escort, G500 security, P2 Command, Maung, and Goldwing escort motorcycles.
Thousands of Paspampres personnel are deployed across several security task forces. The task force consists of 151 personnel from the honor roll call and sacred reflection unit (AKRS), which will be on duty on August 14 and 277 personnel from the parliamentary meeting session on August 15.
On August 17, the day of Indonesia's Independence Day, Paspampres will be deployed to several locations. These include 294 personnel for the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, 205 personnel for the following People's Party festival at the National Monument, 70 for the flag-bearers' team, and 150 for the Ceremonial Troops Team.
