TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Six karatekas—three men and three women—will represent Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, the Indonesian National Karate Team announced on Instagram on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The Karate male athletes are Christopher Elbert Setiabudi, Daniel Hutapea, and M. Tegar Januar, while the female athletes are Marzell Sekar Damayanti, Leica Al Humaira Lubis, and Cok Istri Sanistya Rani.
Christopher will compete in the men's kata event, Daniel in the men's kumite +84 kg category, and Januar in the men's kumite -55 kg category.
Marzella will compete in the women's kata event, Leica in the women's kumite +68 kg category, and Coki in the women's kumite -55 kg category.
The six karatekas are expected to give their all at the 2026 Asian Games to ensure Indonesia remains a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.
Indonesia aims to at least match its performance at the 2022 Asian Games, where it brought home one bronze medal won by karateka Ignatius Joshua Kandou in the men's kumite 75 kg event.
