TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Technology giant Apple has officially launched its fifth Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia, located at Autograph Tower, Central Jakarta.
The academy, established in partnership with Ciputra University, reflects Apple’s effort to foster innovation and digital skills in the country. The inaugural class welcomed more than 100 aspiring developers and entrepreneurs.
Ryan Tjandra, Head of Apple Developer Academy Jakarta, said the new campus aims not only to expand access to technology education but also to strengthen Indonesia’s community of innovators.
“I am excited to welcome hundreds of Indonesian participants who will discover their potential at the Apple Developer Academy, building digital solutions for real-life challenges and creating broad impacts both in Indonesia and globally,” Ryan said in a statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The academy plans to expand next year to accommodate more than 200 participants annually, providing aspiring developers and entrepreneurs with professional skills in technology and application development. The first batch in Jakarta includes students, recent graduates, and professionals aged 18 to 40, coming from 33 cities across Indonesia.
With the Jakarta academy, Indonesia will host five Apple Developer Academies by 2026, supporting over 700 participants from 77 cities across 27 provinces. Graduates are expected to develop applications addressing personal, community, and global challenges.
The program employs Apple’s challenge-based learning model. Over approximately ten months, participants gain skills in coding, design, artificial intelligence, and project management.
Apple launched Indonesia’s first Developer Academy in Tangerang in 2018, followed by campuses in Surabaya in 2019, Batam in 2020, Bali in 2025, and now Jakarta in 2026. By December 2025, nearly 3,000 participants across Indonesia had completed the program.
About 95 percent of graduates found employment across sectors including education, fintech, transportation, and sustainability.
Around 80 percent of alumni have secured full-time roles in application development as programmers, app designers, or project and product managers. Entrepreneurs among the graduates have launched over 250 apps on the App Store and established nearly 100 tech startups in Indonesia.
