TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto said that TNI units are currently building 32 Bailey bridges in three provinces whose access was cut off due to the Sumatra disaster. Agus mentioned that dozens of Bailey bridges are being constructed, including 7 units in Aceh, which are currently in the installation phase.
The bridges in Teupin Reudeup village are 99 percent complete, while the Teupin Mane bridge is finished and can be used by the community. "Then, the Kuta Blang bridge is 60 percent complete, and the Jerata bridge is currently in the installation phase. Then the Alue Kulus bridge, the Enang-Enang bridge, and the Weh Pase bridge," said Agus Subiyanto at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on December 19, 2025.
Furthermore, 11 bridge units are in the preparation phase for installation. These bridges include Weh Ni Rongka, Jeumpa, Beutong Ateh Lampahan, Titik Merah, Bluka Teubai, Timang Gajah, Jamur Ujung, Lenang, Mambong, and Jambo Mesjid.
Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, the TNI has installed three Bailey bridges, namely the Anggoli Sibangun Bridge and the Garoga Tapanuli Selatan Bridge. The Hamparan Perak Bridge is currently under construction.
In West Sumatra, 11 Bailey bridges are being built. Of the 11 units, the bridges that have been completed are the Sikabau Pasaman Barat Bridge, the Bawah Gubang Bridge, the Supayung Bridge, and the Padang Mantuang Bridge. "The rest are still under construction," said Agus.
A total of seven bridge units are still being built, including in Limo Limo, Aia Taganang, Kelok Labu, Sungai Lasi, Sei Rangeh, Bayua Tanjung Raya, Durian Kilangan Roja, and Muaro Busuk.
Agus stated that the current number of TNI personnel deployed is 36,636. However, these personnel will be increased during the reconstruction and rehabilitation stage by the engineer battalion, territorial development, and health personnel.
Agus mentioned that the additional personnel will work on building temporary and permanent shelters, clearing mud and wood, and normalizing roads. They will also distribute logistics and health services, including trauma recovery and clean water supply.
Furthermore, the main weapon systems deployed amount to 84 units. Agus stated that these weapon systems will provide logistical support through daily air landings and airdrops. The weapon systems would also transport PLN (state electricity company) equipment and fuel, additional health vehicles and field kitchens, a health team, heavy equipment, and rice.
"A total of 2,428 tons of logistics have been distributed through air transportation, airdrops, KRI (Naval Base), ADRI ship, and assistance through land routes," said the TNI Commander.
