TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently evaluating one of President Prabowo Subianto's flagship programs, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the results of this evaluation will serve as the basis for the commission to formulate recommendations for policymakers to implement the MBG program.

"Currently, KPK is evaluating the Prevention Monitoring Directorate. From this evaluation, KPK will provide recommendations for improvements to related stakeholders," said Budi at the Red and White Building of the KPK in South Jakarta on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Budi mentioned that the preparation of this evaluation involves various relevant policymakers. The commission will gather information about the mechanisms and challenges of the president's flagship program. The information gathered will be analyzed and observed in order to formulate recommendations that will be submitted to the government.

According to Budi, the preparation of this evaluation and its recommendations is a form of support from KPK for President Prabowo's quick wins program. The evaluation is part of the preventive steps taken by the KPK.

He hopes the government will follow up on the results of the evaluation and recommendations prepared by the anti-corruption agency. Thus, the governance, mechanisms, and processes of the president's quick wins program can run more effectively and efficiently.

"And as a result, when these meals are distributed to our children, they also have good quality," he said.

Previously, KPK Chair Setyo Budiyanto conveyed information about the alleged budget cuts for the MBG during a meeting with the National Nutrition Body (BGN) in early March 2025. In the meeting, Setyo Budiyanto stated that the anti-corruption commission received information about the reduction of MBG food prices that did not match the set budget.

He mentioned that the initial MBG budget for beneficiaries was set at Rp10,000, but was then reduced to Rp8,000. Setyo was concerned that the budget cut would affect the quality of the food.

BGN's Head Dadan Hindayana denied the findings. He ensured that there was no budget cut for the MBG program. According to him, the differences in the budget for raw materials were adjusted based on regional prices. "Adjusted at cost. For example, in Papua, compared to Jakarta, the budget for raw materials is different, not the same," said Dadan in a brief message on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Dadan Hindayana explained that the difference in the MBG budget price is actually not a new occurrence. He mentioned that the difference in the raw material budget has existed since the program began.

For instance, he explained, Students from fourth grade through high school, including those in Islamic boarding schools, will receive an MBG raw materials budget of Rp10,000. "For early childhood education to 3rd-grade students, the benchmark for raw material budget is Rp8,000," said Dadan.

Although there are differences in the budget for raw materials, Dadan claimed that this would not affect the quality and nutritional value of the food. According to him, the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) strictly monitors everything it provides to MBG for hygiene, nutritional value, and other factors that support its beneficiaries.
