TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four teams have secured their tickets to the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 Champions League through the playoff route on Thursday, early morning, February 26, 2026. They completed the list of participants for the knockout phase of the elite European competition.
Atalanta secured their spot dramatically by defeating Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the second leg. Goals from Gianluca Scamacca, Davide Zappacosta, Mario Pasalic, and Lazar Samardzic gave the Italian representatives a 4-3 aggregate lead, despite Dortmund reducing the deficit through Karim Adeyemi.
Real Madrid also progressed after overcoming Benfica 2-1. Trailing from a Rafa Silva goal, Madrid responded with strikes from Aurelien Tchouameni and Vinicius Jr. The result saw Los Blancos advance with a 3-1 aggregate score.
Paris Saint-Germain followed suit after drawing 2-2 against AS Monaco. The result was enough for PSG to win 5-4 on aggregate. Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored the decisive goals in the second leg, while Monaco had to play with 10 men.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray dramatically eliminated Juventus in extra time. Juventus initially led 3-0 through goals from Manuel Locatelli, Federico Gatti, and Weston McKennie, despite being reduced to 10 men after Lloyd Kelly received a red card in the 48th minute.
The advantage led to a 5-5 aggregate score, and the match proceeded to extra time. Victor Osimhen scored a goal in the first half of extra time, followed by Baris Alper Yilmaz in the 119th minute. Galatasaray eventually progressed with a 7-5 aggregate score.
The draw for the round of 16 is scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM WIB (UTC+7).
