TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Directorate General of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), Sudarto, said that the process of returning scholarship funds from all awardees who violate regulations will be in accordance with the state's receivable mechanism.
Sudarto stated that LPDP is currently calculating the total funds disbursed since 2015/2016 for the husband of Dwi Sasetyaningtyas, who became viral due to the content of their child obtaining foreign citizenship.
This amount will form the basis for debt collection. "We will calculate the total amount of money that has been disbursed since 2015/2016," said Sudarto in a media briefing on LPDP at the Directorate General of Financial Balance, Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
He explained that administrative sanctions will be carried out in stages. LPDP will first issue warning letters (SP) 1, SP 2, and SP 3 to the parties involved. If the obligation to return the funds is not fulfilled after three warnings, the case will be handed over to the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) for further debt collection processes.
"If the payment is still not made, we will hand it over to DJKN because this is a public domain and state money," he said.
Sudarto emphasized that LPDP funds are state funds that must be held accountable. Therefore, any violation of scholarship provisions, including obligations stipulated in the contract, will be processed in accordance with applicable regulations.
This case came to light after LPDP alumni and influencer Dwi Sasetyaningtyas exhibited her child's British passport on social media. This triggered public controversy regarding the obligation to contribute to the country.
LPDP stated that it will take administrative and legal measures in accordance with regulations to ensure the accountability of the management of these education funds.
