TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto vented his anger at National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Chief Dadan Hindayana at Wisma Danantara, Plaza Mandiri, South Jakarta, around mid-May 2026. At the time, Dadan attended the meeting with his deputy, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang. Prabowo berated Dadan over corruption allegations.
The trigger was a report Prabowo received regarding suspected irregularities in procurement projects and the buying and selling of locations for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens. There were also allegations involving other free nutritious meal (MBG) projects. "I was deeply disappointed that corruption occurred," Nanik recalled Prabowo saying during the meeting, in an interview with Tempo on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Dadan, an entomologist from IPB University in West Java with no background in nutrition science, remained silent. Nanik, a former journalist, also did not dare speak up. She said she knew nothing about the corruption issues because she had only become BGN Deputy Chief in September 2025.
She said the procurement projects had begun five months before she joined the agency. "Selecting kitchen locations was not my responsibility either," Nanik said.
That day, Prabowo ordered Dadan and Nanik to resolve the corruption problem within BGN. After leaving the meeting room, Nanik said she urged Dadan to carry out the President's directive. She also invited him to improve governance in procurement and the provision of the MBG program.
