
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto strongly condemned the heinous act that led to the demise of three Indonesian UN peacekeepers, who were also a National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel, while on duty for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). According to him, the act damages world peace.
Prabowo stated that the country shares in the grief over the death of three members of the Yonmek Konga XXIII-S UNIFIL Task Force. "Indonesia mourns the loss of three TNI soldiers in their noble duty as UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon," said Prabowo in a caption on his personal Instagram account @prabowo, on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
He urged all parties to continue the spirit of maintaining peace. "And not to allow anyone to sow discord and disunity among the nation," said the former Commander of the Special Forces Command.
He mentioned that the country will be committed to honoring the services of the heroes. He added that it is imperative to respect the honor of soldiers and ensure that the sacrifices made by the soldiers of the Motherland are never forgotten.
In total, three TNI soldiers on duty for the UN in Lebanon died as a result of Israeli attacks in late March and early April 2026. In addition, in various incidents, eight Indonesian peacekeeping personnel were injured due to artillery attacks.
The three TNI soldiers who died in the peacekeeping mission are Major Infantry Posthumous Medal Anumerta Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Sergeant Posthumous Medal Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Corporal Posthumous Medal Farizal Rhomadhon. The funeral and release ceremony for the three bodies of TNI soldiers took place at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
President Prabowo Subianto, along with several cabinet ministers, attended the funeral procession. During the event, the head of state greeted and talked with the families of the victims in attendance.
Following the funeral, the three TNI soldiers' bodies were flown to their respective regions using the Indonesian Air Force aircraft. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar was sent to his hometown in Bandung, West Java, while Farizal Rhomadhon and Muhammad Nur Ichwan were taken to Yogyakarta for a military burial.
