TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is delighted as the Indonesian contingent managed to secure 91 gold medals at the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand.

President Prabowo expressed his joy while attending a mass housing subsidy event in Serang, Banten, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He congratulated the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, who was present, for successfully helping Indonesia win many gold medals.

But he jokingly said the number of golds made him quite dizzy. "On one hand, I'm smiling at the 91 gold medals, but on the other hand, I'm quite dizzy. The bonuses are going to be big now," said Prabowo as quoted by the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on December 20, 2025.

Nevertheless, Prabowo recalled a local ancient wisdom of sabda pandita ratu, where leaders must hold firm to their words and promises. "It's okay to be light-headed and happy. The most important thing is to respect and appreciate our athletes," he said.

The Indonesian team locked down the runner-up position in the temporary standings after collecting a total of 331 medals, consisting of 91 gold, 111 silver, and 129 bronze.

Indonesia is just behind Thailand which has collected 232 gold, 154 silver, and 106 bronze. Meanwhile, Vietnam is closely trailing Indonesia with 86 gold, 79 silver, and 110 bronze.

Indonesia's position is confirmed to remain in second place in the standings. On the final day and the closing ceremony of the 2025 SEA Games on Saturday, only four more gold medals will be up for grabs. At that time, Indonesia was already ahead by five gold medals from Vietnam.
