TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received an escort from F-16 fighter jets of the Royal Jordanian Air Force upon entering the airspace of Jordan. The Head of State arrived at Marka Military Airport, Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at around 8 p.m. local time.
According to the President's Secretariat, the air escort served as a symbol of honor from the Jordanian government to Prabowo and Indonesia. Similar escort was also conducted during Prabowo's visit to Jordan in April 2025.
Upon arrival at Marka Military Airport on Tuesday night, Prabowo was immediately welcomed by the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
In addition to the Crown Prince, Prabowo was welcomed by several high-ranking officials from both countries. From the Indonesian side, the Indonesian Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Indonesian Defense Attach to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Navy Colonel (P) Dafris D. Syahruddin, were seen.
Meanwhile, the officials of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan also welcomed Prabowo. The welcoming procession was also enlivened by the presence of an honor guard.
Prior to visiting Jordan, Prabowo had just completed a series of visits to the United States and the United Kingdom. During the flight to Amman, Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, today, Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and King Abdullah II will discuss a number of issues, one of which is the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting is expected to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in the fields of education, defense, agriculture, and issues in the Middle East region. It is known that 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
