TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto completed a four-nation foreign tour on September 27, 2025. Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya claims the visit, which began on September 19, generated trillions of rupiah in investment commitments for Indonesia.
The tour began with a brief visit to Japan, where President Prabowo visited the Indonesian Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025. Citing a report from the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy, Teddy stated that the five-year event had recorded investment commitments totaling US$23.8 billion, or approximately Rp 380 trillion.
Teddy explained that the primary purpose of the trip was for the President to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
"President Prabowo Subianto has completed a series of foreign visits, primarily for the 80th UNGA. And during these six days, he visited four countries," said Cabinet Secretary Teddy in a statement broadcast via the Cabinet Secretariat's official social media, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Key Highlights and Achievements
In the United States, Prabowo had the distinction of delivering the third speech at the UNGA, following only Brazil and the host nation. The address, delivered before the 193 UN member nations, garnered significant international praise.
"Bold, firm, concrete. There was the President of the United States, then the PM of Canada, then the King of the Netherlands, then this morning, President Macron also called him directly to express his appreciation and pride for the President's speech," the Cabinet Secretary detailed.
In addition to state affairs, President Prabowo met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who expressed support for the development of young Indonesian football academies.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the Indonesian national team is set to participate in the fourth World Cup qualification round on October 9 and 12, 2025.
"It's not easy, but it's not impossible for Indonesia to qualify for the World Cup. And we hope that everything goes according to plan and neutrally in the upcoming matches," Teddy added.
Trade and Cultural Returns
President Prabowo's brief visit to Canada also yielded strategic achievements. Although the visit was not an overnight stay, he was received directly by Governor General Mary Simon and met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
During the occasion, Indonesia and Canada officially signed the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA CEPA). This agreement stipulates that Canada will eliminate tariffs on 90.5 percent of Indonesian goods and products. This, according to the Cabinet Secretary, is expected to have a positive impact on Indonesia's import trade.
From Canada, President Prabowo traveled to the Netherlands. This special visit included being received by both King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at the Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague.
The official meeting cemented the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations, including an agreement for the Netherlands to return approximately 30,000 historical Javanese artifacts and objects, as well as fossils and documents belonging to Indonesia.
"It was agreed that the Dutch Government would return around 30,000 fossils, artifacts, and cultural documents belonging to Indonesia, which are kept here, and the process will be completed soon, maybe tomorrow. The Minister of Culture will finalize it and return them to Indonesia," Cabinet Secretary Teddy concluded.
