TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is scheduled to meet with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, today, Wednesday, February 25, 2026. According to the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo's visit to Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, will discuss several issues, including the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting between Prabowo and the King of Jordan is expected to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in the fields of education, defense, agriculture, and issues related to the Middle East region. This year, 2026, marks the 75th year of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Prabowo arrived at the Marka Military Airport in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at around 20:00 local time. As the presidential plane entered Jordanian airspace, it was escorted by F-16 fighter jets belonging to the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
Upon arrival at the Marka Military Airport, Prabowo was directly welcomed by the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
This visit to Jordan is the second for Prabowo since he assumed the office of President. Back in April 13, 2025, during his first visit to Jordan, Prabowo was personally welcomed by King Abdullah II at the Marka Military Airport in Amman. Prabowo was even driven directly by Abdullah II to the hotel where he stayed.
At that time, Prabowo admitted that he had been friends with King Abdullah II for a long time. They have known each other since they were young.
It is known that King Abdullah II ascended the throne as the King of Jordan in 1999, while Prabowo was inaugurated as the President on October 20, 2024.
King Abdullah II and President Prabowo are both alumni of the United States Army Ranger School at Fort Benning. They first met on December 4, 1995, at Prabowo's inauguration as the Commander of the Army Special Forces (Kopassus).
On November 14-15, 2025, King Abdullah II made a return visit to Indonesia. On Saturday, November 15, 2025, President Prabowo and King Abdullah II witnessed a demonstration of the collaborative drone capabilities of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Jordanian Armed Forces at the Djamsuri AU Shooting Range, Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta.
