The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:
1. Why Containers Are Piling Up at Tanjung Priok Port
Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa inspected 3,100 containers that were piling up at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He discovered several reasons why the imported goods were detained at Tanjung Priok.
The inspection was carried out after the State Treasurer received complaints from several businessmen. “Some businessmen have complained about disruptions in the supply of raw materials and have already increased the dwelling time,” he said at Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The findings are expected to lead to further measures to ease congestion and reduce dwelling time at the port. Click here to read more about the Tanjung Priok container backlog and import delays.
2. Ukraine Hits St. Petersburg Again After Putin Rejects Talks
Ukrainian drone strikes hit the Russian city of St. Petersburg and surrounding regions on Saturday as an international economic forum in the city concluded. Russian authorities said air defenses intercepted 141 drones in the Leningrad Region, while officials urged residents to stay indoors and warned of possible mobile internet disruptions.
The attacks also affected nearby areas, including Kronstadt, where a fire was reported, and forced the evacuation of around 600 residents in Bolshaya Izhora, while Pulkovo Airport temporarily suspended flights.

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said Indonesia is opening opportunities for Russian companies to take part in the development of strategic railway corridors. He noted that as the world’s largest archipelagic country with 17,380 islands and around 280 million people, transportation serves as a vital link connecting the nation.
“For us, transportation is the lifeblood that unites the nation and connects all regions of the archipelago,” AHY said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday. Read more about Indonesia’s infrastructure cooperation plans and railway development projects with Russia here.
